Job description

Select how often (in days) to receive an alert:

  • Help shape how people experience Auckland – from nightlife and food to students, events and city-centre activations
  • Bring your creativity, curiosity and coordination skills to a diverse portfolio of projects
  • 2-year fixed term opportunity based in Auckland’s city centre
He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Are you an energetic coordinator who loves turning ideas into action? This is an exciting opportunity to help deliver projects that contribute to making Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland a vibrant place to live, study, visit and experience.

As our Destination Projects Coordinator, you’ll support a varied portfolio of projects spanning Auckland’s night-time economy, food destination strategy, student economy and city-centre initiatives.

No two weeks will look quite the same. You could be coordinating activity linked to Wednesday Student Nights, supporting initiatives that bring Auckland’s night-time economy to life, helping showcase our diverse food culture, working with universities on student experiences, or helping get a new activation off the ground.

You’ll work with a wide range of internal and external partners, keeping projects organised, stakeholders connected and deliverables moving.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You’ll be someone who brings energy and curiosity to your work and enjoys being part of an environment where ideas are encouraged.

You’re organised enough to keep multiple pieces of work moving, but adaptable enough to respond when priorities change. You’ll be comfortable taking an idea, working out what needs to happen next and getting things underway rather than waiting for every detail to be defined.

We’re looking for someone who:
  • Has previous experience in project coordination, marketing, communications, events or a similar environment
  • Is a strong organiser who can confidently balance multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Has excellent written communication skills and can communicate clearly and concisely
  • Is confident building relationships and can hold their own in meetings with a range of stakeholders
  • Brings a practical, solutions-focused approach and strong critical thinking skills
  • Has confidence using tools such as PowerPoint and Excel and Canva

You don’t need to arrive knowing everything about destination management. What’s important is your willingness to learn, take ownership, ask for help when you need it and grow your capability.

This is a fast-moving portfolio, so you’ll need to be able to distinguish between what’s urgent and what’s important, staying responsive without becoming reactive.

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone wanting to grow their project and stakeholder management experience while contributing to highly visible initiatives across Auckland.

You’ll gain exposure to a broad range of partners and projects and have the opportunity to develop your skills across project delivery, partnerships, presentations, campaigns and destination development.

The role is based in Auckland’s city centre, where you’ll work closely alongside the Destination team, with some flexibility in working arrangements available. Due to the nature of our events and activations, there will also be occasions where you’ll need to work outside standard business hours.

If you’re a self-starter who enjoys variety, likes a challenge and has an interest in Auckland and what makes a city a great place to live, visit, study and spend time, we’d love to hear from you.

Applications close Sunday 27th September at 11.59PM
