Job Description

The Opportunity

Join Downer’s Networks Services team delivering essential electricity infrastructure across New Zealand. This permanent, full-time opportunity is based in our Tauriko office and supports the delivery of design and estimation services across the electricity distribution network.

As a Design Estimator you will deliver engineering design, estimation, and customer support for both overhead and underground distribution projects. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, and contractors to create accurate designs, quotations, and project documentation. Your goal will be to ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

• Deliver design and estimation services for distribution network projects
• Prepare quotations, cost estimates and as-built documentation
• Coordinate resources and support project planning and delivery
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
• Support continuous improvement and mentoring within the design team
  

What we are looking for

• Design and Estimation experience in Power Distribution Networks
• Experience in the use of Neara for overhead line design is desirable
• Hands on knowledge and experience in overhead and underground design or construction
• Familiarity with electricity distribution networks equipment and materialsPractical knowledge of engineering design standards
• High level of computer literacy and application use
• Previous experience in the use of estimation applications
• Sound written and verbal communication skills
• Solid time management and organisational skills
