Job summary

Scanpower Contracting seeks a Design Estimator to prepare designs for overhead and underground electrical reticulation systems and provide accurate cost estimates. You will liaise with customers, network owners and field teams to ensure designs meet safety and legislative requirements, and align with client expectations.

Using Neara, AutoCAD, ColdNet and related tools, you will deliver designs fit for purpose, within time and cost budgets, while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in electrical design and project estimation within the electricity or utilities sector.
• Trade-qualified background in the electrical industry and EWRB registered.

Job description

Scanpower is looking for a talented and experienced Design Estimator to join our Contracting Division based in Feilding. This role will be responsible for preparing designs for the construction of overhead and underground electrical reticulation systems and providing accurate cost estimates.

In this role, you will prepare detailed and accurate designs for approval and construction. You will ensure that designs are fit for purpose, meet all legislative and safety requirements, and align with customer expectations. Using tools such as Neara, AutoCAD, and ColdNet, you will complete projects within time and cost budgets while maintaining high-quality standards.

Additionally, you will liaise with customers, network owners, and field teams to ensure appropriate and approved designs, manage iterative design revisions, and accommodate changes to initial designs.

What you will bring:

• Demonstrated experience in electrical design and project estimation within the electricity or utilities sector.
• Come from a trade-qualified background in the electrical industry and be EWRB registered.
• Strong technical proficiency and understanding of design tools such as Neara, ColdNet, CATAN, CAD, and GPS equipment.
• Ability to prepare designs for both overhead and underground construction.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
