Job summary

The University of Auckland, Waipapa Taumata Rau, seeks a Dean for the Faculty of Arts and Education to provide visionary leadership and exemplify scholarly excellence within a diverse community of staff and students. The appointee will champion equity, inclusion, and strong governance across academic and operational domains on campus.

Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the Dean will guide strategic development, external partnerships and philanthropy, ensuring the Faculty remains at the forefront

Qualifications

• Engage with New Zealand’s bicultural context and Te Tiriti o Waitangi to inform leadership across the Faculty.
• Lead with equity, diversity and inclusion to foster a fair and inclusive academic culture.
• Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills at the highest level.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership to the Faculty of Arts and Education, aligning its mission with university strategy.
• Remain the Faculty’s greatest advocate internally and externally, collaborating with Deans, Directors and other leaders.
• Partner with donors, government, industry and international partners to grow opportunities and sustain impact.
• Support excellence in research and teaching while developing staff and student success across the Faculty.
