Job summary

Ko Taku Reo – Deaf Education New Zealand is seeking an engaging teacher to work with Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in mainstream and specialist settings. The role is permanent and full-time, based at Awapuni Primary School in Whanganui.

You will collaborate with whānau, school staff, and communities to support student participation and life outcomes, using NZSL and listening/speaking strategies where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with Deaf children and/or mainstream students.
• Ability to engage with families/whānau and schools to support participation and success.

Responsibilities

• Work in mainstream and specialist schools with DHH students, whānau, and staff.
• Support student participation and success in education and life outcomes.
• Maintain related records and liaison with families.
