Job summary

Stats NZ is seeking Data Analysts to join the Measuring a Modern Economy (MME) programme and the Macroeconomic Statistical Delivery Branch in Wellington or Christchurch. The roles focus on modernising core economic statistics, data integration, and automation to deliver high-quality outputs for government decision-making.

You will combine strong analytical thinking with practical application, shaping insights and ensuring outputs are accurate.

Qualifications

Relevant qualifications or experience in economics, finance, national accounts, accounting, statistics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the production and ongoing evolution of high-quality statistical products.
Analyse data across core releases and datasets, identifying trends and shaping insights.
Ensure outputs are accurate and robust, embedding quality into processes over time.
Work across multiple data sources, systems, and datasets to design more sustainable, efficient ways of working.
Develop and apply forward-looking methods, tools, and standards for modern statistical production.
Use sound judgement to interpret and apply standards in evolving environments.
Identify opportunities to streamline and automate processes including emerging tools and AI.
Contribute to scalable frameworks and approaches that improve consistency and future capability.
