Job summary

Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities in Wellington seeks an experienced Technical Cybersecurity Specialist to join our Cybersecurity team and help protect the systems, information, and technology services that support our customers and people every day.

This role leads security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and the ongoing improvement of security controls and tooling while collaborating with internal teams, external providers, and government agencies to keep Kāinga Ora

Qualifications

• At least six years' experience in cybersecurity, information security, or related technology security roles.
• Experience managing security operations activities, including security monitoring, vulnerability management, security tooling, and incident response.
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity tools and technologies, including SIEM and security monitoring platforms.
• Relevant technology qualifications and industry certifications such as Security+, CISM, CRISC, SSCP, CISSP, or equivalent.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build trusted partnerships across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong analytical thinking, sound judgement, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support cybersecurity operational activities including security monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, and security assurance activities.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of cybersecurity processes, tools, reporting, and organisational cyber awareness.
• Monitor and respond to cyber threats, manage security operations activities, and maintain core security controls.
