Job summary

Hamilton City Council, operating Te Whare Taonga o Waikato Museum & Gallery, seeks a curator to join the curatorial and collections team. You will develop exhibitions, grow the collections, and drive research across multiple disciplines to enhance visitor experience and engagement.

The role requires five years of relevant museum experience, strong communication skills, and collaboration with local and international partners. Flexible working options and professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a museum, gallery, or similar environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in research.
• Knowledge of professional museum ethics.
• Strong networks and partnerships locally and internationally.
• Proficiency with Vernon or similar collection management system.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative exhibitions that enhance visitor engagement.
• Develop the Museum’s collections and undertake research.
• Support care of objects and contribute to education and public programmes.
• Collaborate across History, Tangata Whenua, Art and Science disciplines.
