Skills Institute, part of Skills Group, seeks a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to bridge professional kitchen practice with higher education in a Bachelor of Culinary Arts. The role combines teaching with kitchen management, mentoring learners and connecting global gastronomy with Māori and Pasifika food knowledge in Aotearoa.

Appointments will reflect experience, with emphasis on teaching, practice and potential research interests.

Formación

• Master’s degree at NZQCF Level 9 or higher in culinary arts or related field.
• Recognised professional cookery qualification such as NZC, City & Guilds or international equivalent.
• Substantial senior commercial kitchen experience with leadership of teams.
• Experience teaching at degree level or demonstrated ability to do so.
• Experience teaching in a bicultural context aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Responsabilidades

• Deliver engaged cookery and patisserie teaching through kitchen demonstrations, practical sessions and online learning.
• Assess practical skills and provide feedback to build learners’ technique and professional judgement.
• Oversee teaching kitchen operations including purchasing, stock, budgets, equipment, hygiene and food safety compliance.
• Teach production planning, food costing and contemporary culinary practice with real-world kitchen context.
• Support practical projects, industry placements and collaborate with guest chefs on tastings and sessions.
• Contribute to assessment design and programme development with culturally responsive teaching.
