Job summary

New Zealand Police is seeking an Individual Contributor/Emerging Leader to join the Criminal Justice Support Unit. The role focuses on preparing court documents and criminal disclosure, handling sensitive information and ensuring accuracy for Judge Alone or Jury trials.

You’ll collaborate with the Police Prosecution Service, Public Defence Service, and legal teams, build external relationships with Crown and Defence lawyers, and contribute to a high performing team while meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• High attention to detail required for court files and disclosure.
• Experience with prosecution file preparation is advantageous.
• Ability to work with legal and policing partners.

Responsibilities

• Prepare prosecution files (JAT, Jury, Formal Proof, Traffic Infringement) to a standard for court.
• Complete initial, additional and final criminal disclosure to Crown/Defence lawyers.
• Identify admissible evidence and evidential requirements for convictions.
• Support evidential presentation and liaise with Constabulary staff.
• Review files for evidential sufficiency and advise on next steps.
