Job summary

Turner & Townsend in Auckland seeks an experienced Cost Manager to lead budget preparation, forecasting and cost control across major infrastructure projects. You will coordinate cost reporting, analyze trends, and integrate contractor estimates to drive value for clients.

The role requires a professional track record in cost/project controls within infrastructure, with proficiency in CostX, Unifier and SAP. A consultancy background and NZ market familiarity are advantages.

Qualifications

  • Professionally qualified in cost management, commercial management, project controls or similar.
  • Commercial management experience in infrastructure projects, especially water sector.
  • MRICS/AIQS accreditation is highly regarded.
  • Experience in consultancy environments preferred.
  • Experience in Australian market and/or Australian projects is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with CostX, Unifer, Prism, Ecosys, Unifier and Cobra.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and monitor budgets and forecasts for projects and work packages.
  • Adhere to project control standards and cost reporting cycles.
  • Produce budgets, forecasts and expenditure profiles using agreed structures.
  • Analyze earned value and adverse trends.
  • Integrate cost estimates from contractors and suppliers.
  • Support with tendering, procurement, and pre-tender estimates.

  • Responsible for the preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts within the project and work packages
  • Adherence to project control standards across the project
  • Production and control of budgets / forecasts and expenditure profiles for all work within the project, utilising approved work breakdown and cost breakdown structures
  • Analysis of earned value and adverse trends
  • Co-ordination and production of cost reports and updated budgets to a defined reporting cycle
  • Analysis of change within construction and the provision of feedback on areas of risk and opportunities
  • Analysis and integration of cost estimates and forecasts provided by contractors and suppliers
  • Providing process and technical support to assist in the management of the full project budget and scope
  • Cost and resource estimates to support the budget
  • Detailed change control to manage the above
  • Project and work package cost reports
  • Close working with the construction department to monitor site costs
  • Close working with the scheduling team to support earned value analysis
  • Assisting on feasibility studies and writing cost reports.
  • Assisting with Estimating and cost planning including producing and presenting the final cost plan
  • Assisting with Tendering and procurement, including helping with the pre-qualification stage, assisting in the preparation of pre tender estimates, the tender analysis, tender reports and the compilation of contractual documents.
  • Dealing effectively with post contract cost variances and the change control processes
  • Follow project governance processes and systems that are utilised throughout the project
  • Work effectively as part of a cost management team, to ensure that all deliverables are met.
Qualifications
  • Professionally qualified in cost management, commercial management, project controls or similar
  • Commercial Management experience gained within the infrastructure environment particularly water sector
  • MRICS / AIQS accreditation ideal
  • Relevant work experience, ideally in a consultancy environment
  • Experience of working within the Australian market and/or Australian projects in the infrastructure sector
  • Proficient in the use of CostX, Unifer, Prism, Ecosys, Unifier, Cobra
  • Proficient in the use of SAP and BI tools
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail
  • Team player with the ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English with excellent report and bid writing skills
  • Highly motivated and driven with a passion for delivering to your clients
