Job summary

Spotswood College in New Plymouth seeks a passionate Core Classroom Teacher to join the Learning Support Team for 2027. The role focuses on teaching and pastoral care for students in years 9–13 requiring learning support, with personalised programmes and a UDL-based approach to neurodiversity.

Ideal candidates will have literacy and numeracy knowledge, and a commitment to the school values of Manaakitanga, Pono, Whanaungatanga and Whakamana. Primary teachers may apply as well.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering learning support in secondary school settings.
• Uses UDL to support neurodiverse learners.
• Provides pastoral care and builds relationships with students.
• Knowledge of NZ curriculum phases 1–3 (years 9–13) and literacy/numeracy expectations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver effective teaching and pastoral care to students requiring learning support.
• Develop personalised and responsive learning programmes.
• Utilise current pedagogy with emphasis on inclusion and neurodiversity.
• Collaborate within the Learning Support Team to implement school values.

Spotswood College is seeking a passionate and dynamic Core Classroom Teacher to join our Learning Support Team in 2027.

The successful candidate would provide effective and relevant teaching and pastoral care, to studentsrequiring learning support:

• this includes a flexible, patient and creative approach to working with Year 9-13 students
• learning programmes are personalised and responsive to individual student and grouplearning needs
• teaching uses a range of effective techniques, best practice and demonstrates currentpedagogy particularly around a UDL approach to neurodiversity
• literacy and numeracy knowledge, curriculum knowledge eg. phase 1 through to phase 3
• is committed to the school's values of Manaakitanga, Pono, Whanaungatanga, and Whakamana
