Job description

Must have had four years’ experience working as an Electrician with a further two years as a Foreman.

  • Current: NZ Electrical registration, Site Safe Passport, Full drivers’ licence, First Aid Certificate.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Construction Contracts Act 2002.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of the methods, regulations, materials, and machinery involved in Electrical installation work.
  • A good understanding of the construction environment.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel management, scheduling, continuous improvement, and training.
  • Pro‑active approach.
  • Flexibility with working hours.
  • Able to work in a fast‑paced environment with strict deadlines.
  • Excellent conflict resolution, problem solving and analytical skills – with a good eye for detail.
Responsibilities include:
  • Supervisor multiple job sites.
  • Undertake day to day electrical services to design, assemble, install, test, commission, diagnose, maintain, and repair electrical networks, systems, circuits, equipment, components, appliances, and facilities for industrial, commercial, and domestic purposes.
  • Participate and agree upon with start‑up site responsibilities Project Manager.
  • Familiarise and understand plans, specifications, tender letter, and sub‑contractor agreements for each allocated project.
  • Create timelines and meet or beat them.
  • Assess resources, procure plant and materials required to meet programmes.
  • Manage up‑keep and condition of all equipment and plant under your control.
  • Commissioning and testing of installation to industry standard.
  • Allocate workload to the Foreman under your supervision.
  • Prepare and compile job cost reports for management team.
  • Attend Ledger meetings.
  • Ensure target setting is prepared and completed.
  • Planning forward workload and procurement of plant and materials to ensure that jobs are completed efficiently and on time.
  • Liaise with Foreman during the job and resolve any problems or issues that they or the client may have.
  • Motivate your team to increase their productivity and meet work goals.
  • Sign off on invoices, checking for correct product and discounts.
  • Check and submit team timesheets to meet payroll deadlines.
  • Consulting with Foreman, builders, architects, and other workers on site.
  • Ensure your Foreman and sub‑contractors are kept up to date with variation and changes to the project. Issue revised drawings, specification & take‑off at all times.
  • Processing and pricing of site instructions and variations in accordance with the project.
  • Payment Claims to be processed by the clients required date.
  • Manage and accurately record all stock adjustments.
  • Liaise with Foreman to identify/arrange staff training requirements and up‑skilling so all staff have a good knowledge of the different areas of work we cover.
  • Inspect completed work on site with the Foreman.
  • Follow up and ensure job completion. This includes timely completion of COC's, Producer Statements, warranties and guarantees, and as-built manuals. These need to be completed before the client's practical completion date.
  • Maintain company Health & Safety policies and paperwork. Prepare and send all onsite health and safety on a weekly basis.
  • Attend Friday labour meetings and update Foreman as required.
  • Evaluate staff members as required for yearly reviews.
  • Monitor progress and work closely with our apprentices on and off the job for training requirements. Make sure paperwork is completed and signed off on. Ensure apprentices are on track to complete their apprenticeship.
