Job summary

Qualifications

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry or equivalent.
• Registered or eligible for vocational registration in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Broad clinical experience in Mental Health Services for Older People and General Adult psychiatry.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity in care.
• Must have a current New Zealand driver’s license and be courageous.

Te Whatu Ora Tairawhiti is looking for a 1.0 FTE Psychiatrist. We are particularly interested in a person that is willing to explore many ways of working with whanau / families in distress.

Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti Mental Health and Addiction Services, Te Ara Maioha, have several opportunities to either explore specialties or generalist Consultant Psychiatry in General Adult, Mental Health Services for Older People and Infant, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Days and hours can be negotiated. Due to new funding allocated to Tairāwhiti region for development of new service models and facilities that will better provide for the needs of the local community, now is the time to be part of shaping service delivery. There is a focus in strong community engagement in addressing inequalities for Māori. Join our dynamic healthcare team in Tairawhiti, where we are dedicated to providing high-quality medical care to our community (population 50,000) on the East coast of the North Island. About you Essential :

Skills and experience

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry or equivalent
• Registered or eligible for vocational registration in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand
• Broad clinical experience
• Specialist knowledge and broad clinical experience of Mental Health Services for Older People and General Adult psychiatry
• The ability to work professionally and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

• Must have Cultural Literacy
• Must have a current New Zealand drivers license.
