We are seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Specialist to join our team at Waikato Hospital on a fixed-term, full-time basis from now until November 2026.
This is an opportunity to practise Emergency Medicine in one of New Zealand’s busiest and most diverse Emergency Departments, caring for approximately 90,000 presentations each year. Waikato Hospital provides emergency care for the Hamilton and wider Waikato population, while also serving as a tertiary referral centre for the Te Manawa Taki region.
As a senior clinician, you will provide expert Emergency Medicine care while contributing to the leadership, supervision and development of our junior workforce. You will be supported by a collaborative team of Emergency Physicians and multidisciplinary colleagues, with opportunities to become involved in education, quality improvement, service development, and professional leadership activities.
Our service is based within a major tertiary hospital offering the full range of medical and surgical specialties, including Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Plastics and Psychiatry, across a campus of more than 600 beds.
Join a welcoming and high-performing team of approximately 30 Emergency Physicians who are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and supporting one another.
The department has a strong culture of teaching and lifelong learning, with oversight of around 35 junior medical staff. There are excellent opportunities to contribute to both bedside and formal education programmes while maintaining a broad clinical Emergency Medicine practice.
