Job summary

Wairau Hospital in Blenheim, Marlborough, is seeking a FACEM or equivalent Emergency Medicine Specialist to join our close-knit Emergency Department team. This permanent part-time role offers 0.8 FTE (64 hours per fortnight) in a region famous for lifestyle and outdoor recreation.

You will work within a diverse caseload of adult, paediatric, medical, surgical, and trauma presentations, with strong professional support and opportunities for teaching and leadership within a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or an equivalent recognised specialist qualification is required.
  • Be eligible for vocational registration in Emergency Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • Commitment to patient-centred care and clinical excellence.
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching, mentoring, and service development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality emergency care across a broad range of presentations.
  • Contribute to a supportive and collaborative specialist workforce.
  • Mentor and supervise Registrars, House Officers, and Medical Students.
  • Participate in service development, quality improvement, and clinical leadership opportunities.
  • Share in a well-supported after-hours on-call roster.
  • Help shape the future of Emergency Medicine within our growing service.

What we are looking for

You will:

  • hold a Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent recognised specialist qualification
