Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Lakes seeks a Consultant General Paediatrician with a special interest in Behavioural or Developmental Paediatrics to join Rotorua/Taupō services. The permanent, part-time role (0.75 FTE) is based at Rotorua Hospital and involves evaluating and managing a wide range of paediatric conditions with a focus on behavioural and developmental issues.

• Specialist qualifications in Paediatric Medicine (e.g., FRACP or equivalent).

About the Role

This role involves assessing and managing a broad spectrum of paediatric conditions with an emphasis on behavioural and developmental issues. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, contributing to both clinical practice and service development.

About the Team/Service/Location

The current paediatric team consists of specialist general paediatritians with a full range of subspecialist interests, senior registrars/fellows, three junior registrars dedicated paediatric SHO support. Our team has well established links with tertiary centres for support. The department is accredited by the Royal Australiasan College of Physicians (RACP) for general paediatrics and a rural component of advanced paediatric training, as well as a portion of community child health paediatric training. Rotorua Hospital is a teaching sight for 5th and 6th year medical students from the University of Auckland Medical School, therefore mentoring and guiding the future generation of medical professionals is an essential part of the work we do.
