The New Zealand Government is seeking a qualified professional to integrate into a passionate multi-disciplinary breast service team in Whangarei, Northland. This part-time role involves participating in both symptomatic and screening breast work, and engaging in multidisciplinary team meetings.

Applicants must hold or be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Diagnostic & Interventional Radiology. This position offers a supportive environment in a well-equipped clinic, alongside stunning coastal scenery and a warm climate.

Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand — Permanent part‑time position 0.5 FTE

About the Role

You will be part of a passionate and innovative multi‑disciplinary breast service team in a purpose‑built clinic supported by surgeons, specialist breast care nurses, medical imaging technologists, sonographers, community and administrative teams.

The role could include both symptomatic and screening breast work and may also involve general radiology. The purpose‑built breast centre is well equipped with two digital mammography units including tomosynthesis, tomosynthesis biopsy and ultrasound. Services include multi‑modality reporting and intervention including digital mammography with tomosynthesis, vacuum‑assisted biopsy, ultrasound and stereotactic biopsy, hook‑wire localisation and clip placement, triple assessment and weekly multidisciplinary team meetings.

As well as a warm climate, the winterless north offers excellent schools, affordable housing and scenic coastal areas. It is just a two‑hour drive or a 25‑minute flight from the international hub of Auckland.

About you

To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist (or locum tenens) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in a Diagnostic & Interventional Radiology vocational scope of practice. A strong sub‑specialty interest or a sub‑specialty fellowship would be an advantage. If you are currently overseas or not yet registered, we can assist you with the application process to obtain MCNZ registration.
