Job summary

Hynds Pipe Systems Limited in Christchurch is seeking a hands-on Production Technician to join our manufacturing team. You’ll work across the full production process—from mould setup and reinforcement assembly through concrete casting, finishing, and product stripping.

You’ll read drawings, maintain quality standards, and follow safety practices. A Class 1 forklift licence with F endorsement is required (OSH), gantry crane is a plus, and a team-first attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year's experience in concrete, precast, carpentry, steel fixing, or automated production.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and drawings.
• A solid understanding of quality standards and safe working practices.
• Class 1 licence with F (OSH forklift) endorsement, or the ability to obtain one.
• Gantry crane ticket (3800) is an advantage.
• A team-first attitude — reliable, flexible, and respectful.

Responsibilities

• Set up and assemble formwork and moulds to drawing specifications
• Place reinforcement cages and pour concrete to spec
• Strip, ramp, and mark finished product to production standards
• Maintain quality control and complete QC documentation accurately
• Keep your work area clean and organised using 5S principles
• Contribute to pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement initiatives
