About the role
- Provide trusted compliance and privacy advice across the business, helping ensure initiatives align with regulatory requirements while supporting Tower's customer-focused strategy.
- Partner with leaders and stakeholders to embed a strong culture of compliance through guidance, training, risk awareness, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and respond to regulatory change, investigate compliance matters, and influence business decisions as a strategic advisor within the Risk, Compliance and Conduct team.
What you’ll be doing
- Partner with leaders across Tower to provide expert compliance and privacy advice, helping the business understand and meet regulatory, conduct, and licensing obligations.
- Lead and enhance Tower's compliance framework, ensuring obligations are effectively managed, compliance risks are identified, and appropriate actions are taken to strengthen outcomes.
- Prepare and deliver compliance and privacy reporting, insights, and recommendations to leadership and governance forums to support informed decision-making.
- Assess compliance and privacy incidents, regulatory breaches, and remediation activities, providing guidance to minimise risk and achieve fair customer outcomes.
- Drive a strong compliance culture through training, policy development, regulatory monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives across New Zealand and the Pacific.
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
- A background in risk and compliance with at least five years' experience within the financial services industry.
- Experience developing, implementing and maintaining compliance management frameworks, including obligations management, regulatory change, compliance assurance and attestation processes.
- Experience preparing regulatory returns, including coordinating stakeholder input, assessing evidence and meeting regulatory timeframes.
- Experience assessing compliance incidents including consideration of customer impacts and regulator notification requirements.
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand financial services legislation, regulatory frameworks and licensing regimes, including experience interpreting and applying regulatory obligations within a practical business environment.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to interpret regulatory requirements, prepare high-quality reports and policies, and present insights to senior leaders and governance groups.
- Customer-focused and relationship-driven, with proven stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence, coach, and support others to embed compliance and conduct considerations into everyday decision-making.
