Job summary

Aon New Zealand is seeking a Compliance & Audit Manager to influence how the business manages risk and compliance. You will provide independent oversight, challenge the status quo, and partner with the business to lift standards across the board.

This Line 2 role sits within our Legal & Compliance team and covers oversight across audits, monitoring, and privacy. You will lead line 2 compliance audits, identify risks, report insights to leadership and governance, and advise on projects and

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in compliance, audit, or risk within financial services
• Strong understanding of the NZ regulatory environment
• Ideally financial advice experience
• Sharp eye for detail to spot risks, trends and systemic issues
• Excellent communication skills including report writing and presenting to senior teams
• Confidence to challenge and influence across all levels of the business

Responsibilities

• Lead line 2 compliance audits and monitoring across regulated activities
• Review processes, identify risks and test the effectiveness of controls
• Report insights and findings to leadership and governance bodies
• Provide practical advice on projects, products and operational change
• Build trusted relationships across the business and with regulators

As our Compliance & Audit Manager, you'll play a critical role in shaping that future — providing independent oversight, challenging the status quo, and partnering with the business to lift standards across the board.

This is a true Line 2 role, sitting within our Legal & Compliance team — focused on oversight, assurance, and continuous improvement. You'll be working across the business to: assess how well controls are operating, identify risks and gaps before they become issues, provide clear, practical insights to leaders, and help shape and evolve our compliance frameworks. It's a role with real visibility and influence, including regular engagement with senior leaders and governance committees.

You'll be driving assurance and partnering with the business, including: leading line 2 compliance audits and monitoring across regulated activities, reviewing processes, identifying risks, and challenging the effectiveness of controls, reporting insights and findings to leadership and governance, providing practical advice on projects, products, and operational change, building trusted relationships across the business and with regulators, and acting as privacy and data protection officer, adding further depth to the role.

We're keen to hear from people who bring: 5+ years' experience in compliance, audit, or risk within financial services, strong understanding of the NZ regulatory environment, ideally financial advice, a sharp eye for detail — able to spot risks, trends, and systemic issues, excellent communication skills, including report writing and presenting to senior team members, confidence to challenge and influence across all levels of the business.
