Job summary

IDEA Services is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to assist adults with intellectual disabilities in their homes during night shifts, including sleepovers. You will support clients with daily living, manage risks, and promote independence while maintaining strong relationships with their families and community.

Previous caregiving experience is preferred, with flexible weekend availability. Role requires a calm, patient attitude, good communication, and comfort with technology.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable using computers and tablets daily.
• Calm nature and confidence with challenging behaviours.
• Physical fitness to provide necessary support.
• Full NZ driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Support clients with intellectual disabilities in their homes.
• Manage risk and ensure safety throughout the night.
• Assist with daily living activities (toileting, showering, dressing, meals).
• Help clients pursue goals, independence, and routines.
• Build strong connections with whānau and community.
