Job summary

Oceania Group's Franklin Village in Pukekohe, New Zealand is seeking a dedicated Healthcare Assistant on a fixed-term contract. You will support residents to live with dignity, comfort and independence, delivering person-centred care in a compassionate team environment.

The role requires prior caregiving experience, ideally with dementia care, and a patient, respectful approach. You will work with Registered Nurses to ensure high-quality care and maintain safety and wellbeing for residents.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in caregiving or aged care.
• Experience with people living with Dementia is desirable.
• Compassion, patience and respect in caring for older adults.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Commitment to safety, dignity and resident-centred care.
• Flexibility for a rotating roster including weekends and nights.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care with dignity, privacy and comfort.
• Support daily activities such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition and hydration.
• Observe needs and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Build respectful relationships with residents and families/whānau.
• Create a safe, clean and welcoming environment promoting wellbeing.
• Follow care plans and collaborate with Registered Nurses for quality care.
• Communicate clearly with residents, families and the team.
• Adhere to health, safety and infection control practices.
