Job summary

Wairakei Resort Taupō is seeking a motivated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team on a part-time, fixed-term contract through to 1 April 2027. You will assist with food preparation for our restaurants, functions and hotel operations, and support the Chef team during busy service periods.

This role offers a supportive hospitality environment with room to develop your skills. Applicants must have legal working rights in New Zealand; sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Some kitchen or food preparation experience preferred, but training can be provided.
• Reliable, hardworking and willing to learn.
• Able to work well under pressure in a busy environment.
• Good attention to detail and a positive attitude.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and public holidays.
• A genuine interest in developing your kitchen skills.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with food preparation for our restaurants, functions and hotel operations
• Preparing ingredients and basic dishes to the required standard
• Supporting the Chef team during busy service periods
• Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen
• Following food safety and hygiene procedures
• Assisting with stock preparation and kitchen organisation

Wairakei Resort Taupō is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our Kitchen team on a part-time, fixed-term contract through to 1 April 2027.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of one of New Zealand’s most iconic resort destinations. With 13 dedicated conference spaces, the Pavilion Restaurant, Geyser Bar & Eatery, and a busy programme of events and functions, our kitchen team plays an important role in delivering memorable experiences for our guests.
