Job description

About the Company

A successful large, well-established New Zealand business operating in a genuinely complex commercial environment. It’s an exciting time to join, with a future-focused strategy recently set, and meaningful projects to deliver. The scale of the business gives you real breadth, and the pace means you learn quickly.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will work alongside the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to translate strategy into actionable, well-run projects. You will work with key leaders to translate priorities into plans, business cases, and delivered outcomes across the organisation.

The remit is deliberately broad. In any given quarter, you might be building the business case for an enterprise initiative, leading a review of the organisation's pricing approach, coordinating a cross-functional project team, or preparing the material that shapes an executive or Board decision. There are no direct reports in this role. Your influence comes from the quality of your thinking and your ability to bring people with you.

This role has been designed with a career pathway in mind. It exists to give a high performer an enterprise-wide view of how a complex business actually works, and to build the commercial and leadership foundation for future roles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development, review, and execution of organisational strategy
  • Lead and coordinate strategic projects sponsored by the CEO and executive team
  • Build business cases, strategic recommendations, and executive decision material
  • Conduct research, data analysis, and market assessment to identify opportunities and risks
  • Lead a strategic review of the organisation's pricing approach
  • Track progress against strategic priorities, milestones, risks, and benefits realisation
  • Prepare briefing papers, presentations, and reporting for executive and Board forums
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and support change and continuous improvement activity
Key Skills & Experience Required
  • Tertiary qualified in business, commerce, economics, science, or a related discipline
  • Ideally management consulting background, or project or programme management experience in a large, complex organisation
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to connect analysis to commercial outcomes
  • Proven ability to run cross-functional projects to time, scope, and benefit
  • Data-driven and analytical, comfortable building the numbers behind a recommendation
  • Confident engaging, influencing, and holding senior stakeholders to account
  • Change management, transformation, or pricing experience is an advantage
  • Resilient, curious, and comfortable operating in ambiguity
About You

You connect the dots. You can sit in a room with an executive team, understand what they are actually trying to achieve, and translate it into something the business can execute. You are commercially savvy and analytically strong, but your real strength is people. You build relationships quickly, you influence without authority, and you bring teams together across functions to get things done.

You are resilient, and you want to learn. This is a role for someone ambitious about where they are heading and with a desire for continuous improvement.

What's in it for you

Few roles give you executive exposure this early in your career. You will work shoulder to shoulder with the CEO and executive team, see how strategy is set and delivered across every function, and build a track record that positions you for career development and growth in the business.

Benefits
  • Southern Cross Health Insurance
  • Life Insurance, Income Protection and Trauma cover
  • Employer superannuation contribution tax is paid by the employer, so you get the full amount in your KiwiSaver fund
  • Birthday leave
  • Ability to purchase an extra week of leave each year
  • Flexible working with options to work from home, balanced with on-site time alongside the executive team
  • On-site parking, phone and laptop provided
  • A role built as a pathway into future leadership
