Job summary

Otago Regional Council seeks a Catchment Advisor for our Environmental Implementation team on a fixed-term basis (parental leave cover). The role is full-time (37.5 hours/week) in our busy coastal office to advance on-ground initiatives for better coastal catchment outcomes.

You will engage with landowners and communities, support biodiversity projects, and promote best practice in farming and land management to deliver measurable environmental improvements.

Qualifications

  • Experience engaging with rural and urban communities and landholders.
  • Ability to facilitate community outcomes in non-regulatory settings.
  • Understanding of farming and rural issues.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing work programmes to deliver beyond-regulatory activities in catchments.
  • Supporting site-led initiatives and biodiversity projects.
  • Understanding landowners' needs and aligning advisory services to promote good practice.
  • Collaborating with primary sector and private consultants to adopt industry best practices.
