Job summary

Pacific Stone Ltd. in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, is seeking an experienced CNC Stone Saw Operator. You will set up and operate bridge saws and CNC machining centres to cut and shape surfaces from granite, quartz, marble and other stones.

Responsibilities include loading slabs, programming from CAD/CAM files, monitoring fabrication for accuracy, and maintaining safety and quality. Occasional late nights or weekend work may be required in a busy workshop.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC stone machinery is desirable.
• Ability to load stone slabs and interpret digital CAD/CAM designs.
• Maintain high quality and safety standards in a busy workshop.
• Willingness to work late nights or occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

• Machine setup and operation of CNC stone equipment.
• Loading stone slabs onto the CNC machine.
• Programming and design interpretation from CAD/CAM files.
• Fabrication control: monitor sawing and cutting processes for accuracy.
• Quality and safety inspections of finished pieces; maintain a clean, safe workplace.
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of machines, including blades and components.

Hours: 40-50 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary Range: $35 - $45 + p/h

About Us:

Pacific Stone produce bespoke quality stone benchtops and surfaces for the residential and commercial market. They have an opportunity for an experienced CNC Saw Operator to join their existing team in Tauranga. This role involves programming and operating computer-controlled machines (bridge saws and machining centres) to cut and shape surfaces out of granite, quartz, marble, engineered, natural stone, and porcelain.

About the Role:

• Machine Setup / Operation
• Loading stone slabs onto the CNC machine.
• Programming and Design Interpretation - loading digital CAD/CAM design files (from templating software) to direct the machine's movements.
• Fabrication Control - monitoring the sawing and cutting process, checking for potential errors.
• Quality and Safety Control -inspecting finished pieces for precision and quality standards, checking for defects, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment.
• Maintenance and troubleshooting machines, such as replacing worn blades or cleaning components.

Key Skills Required:

• Proficiency with CNC machinery, software/ digital technology.
• Experience operating CNC stone machinery and bridge saws would be ideal, but not essential.
• You may also be experienced in CNC Profiling machines and Waterjet operations, which would be an advantage.
• Ability to work with tight tolerances to ensure high-quality, consistent finished products.
• An understanding of the properties of different stone types and engineered surfaces would be an advantage.
• Ability to accurately measure, read and interpret specifications.
• Previous experience working with complex machinery such as CNC Saw, CNC Profiling and Hand Polishing machines would be an advantage.
• Punctuality and reliability are a must.
• Ideally you will also have flexibility to work some late nights or the odd weekend on occasion
