Job summary

Tradestaff in Te Rapa, Hamilton is seeking a CNC Operator for an immediate start. You will operate CNC machinery to cut, shape, drill and groove architectural timber components, read drawings and job specs, set up tooling and check finished parts for accuracy.

This role offers a 4‑day week, ongoing work, and a central Hamilton location with competitive hourly pay of $28–$34.

Qualifications

• Previous CNC operating experience.
• Ability to read drawings, plans and measurements.
• Familiar with Mach3 software.
• Familiar with ArtCAM CAD/CAM software.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• A safety-conscious and reliable approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machinery to cut, shape, drill and groove architectural timber components.
• Load, position and safely handle timber and finished products.
• Read and interpret drawings, measurements and CNC job specifications.
• Set up machinery, select tooling and make adjustments as needed.
• Check finished components for accuracy, dimensions and quality.
• Carry out basic machine maintenance, cleaning and tooling changes.
• Follow production schedules and workplace safety requirements.

CNC Operator

Start date: Immediate

Pay rate: $28–$34 per hour

What you'll be doing

• Operating CNC machinery to cut, shape, drill and groove architectural timber components
• Loading, positioning and safely handling timber and finished products
• Reading and interpreting drawings, measurements and CNC job specifications
• Setting up machinery, selecting tooling and making required adjustments
• Checking finished components for accuracy, dimensions, quality and defects
• Carrying out basic machine maintenance, cleaning and tooling changes
• Following production schedules, machine safety procedures and workplace health and safety requirements

What we're looking for

• Previous CNC operating experience
• Confident carrying out cutting and grooving work
• Familiarity with Mach3 software
• Familiarity with ArtCAM CAD/CAM software
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans and measurements
• Good attention to detail and a strong focus on quality
