  • HIGH-PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING POLYMERS

  • Opportunities to grow your skills

  • Stable, growing NZ-owned business

Many people think machining polymers is simple.

At Supply Services we machine high-performance engineering polymers for some of the most demanding applications in New Zealand - aerospace, medical equipment, pharmaceutical industry, food processing systems, marine industry, electrical equipment, construction, timber processing, agricultural machinery and specialist industrial equipment manufacturers. The material behaviour, thermal properties and tight tolerances often demand more skill, care and problem-solving than equivalent metal work.

We are a NZ-owned performance engineering business (established 1980) with modern machine shops in Christchurch, Mount Maunganui and Auckland. This is a true jobbing environment - varied, hands-on and technically interesting.

The role

You will independently take components from customer drawings or CAD models right through to a quality-assured finished part. That means determining the machining strategy, CAM programming, designing and making fixtures, selecting tooling, setting the machine, producing first-offs, and working with the team to verify quality before production proceeds.

Day-to-day work includes:

  • CNC turning, milling and routing (including multi-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis and Y-axis mill-turn)

  • Programming, setup and operation of both CNC and manual machines

  • Precision machining of engineering polymers, with some composites and metals

  • Jobbing and small-batch manufacturing to tight tolerances

  • Continuous improvement of processes and tooling

We're looking for someone who:

  • Holds a trade qualification in machining, fitting & turning, or equivalent

  • Has extensive experience with both manual and advanced CNC machining

  • Is highly competent programming, setting and operating multi-axis CNC machines

  • Can develop machining strategies independently from drawings and CAD models

  • Has proven experience designing and manufacturing fixtures for complex jobs

  • Understands cutting tools, parameters and process optimisation across engineering polymers, composites and metals

  • Takes pride in accurate, high-quality work and works safely and efficiently

  • Ideally has experience coaching apprentices

Why join us?:

  • Genuine variety - not repetitive production work

  • Overtime at time-and-a-half

  • Modern equipment and interesting, high-spec jobs

  • Stable, growing NZ-owned company

  • Supportive, experienced team in Christchurch
