You will operate as a clinical resource, with advanced assessment, escalation, and leadership during high acuity periods, helping nurse teams, students and healthcare assistants deliver quality care across settings.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a valid APC.
  • Postgraduate qualification (or at least one postgraduate paper), with commitment to complete the qualification if successful.
  • Strong, broad clinical experience across multiple settings.
  • Advanced assessment and escalation skills.
  • Current IV, controlled drugs, cannulation, venepuncture, CVL, epidural and PCA designations.
  • Core Advanced certification.
  • Male and female catheterisation certification.
  • Strong problemsolving, teamwork and communication skills.
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable outcomes.
  • Preceptor or adult teaching qualification.

  • Permanent, Part - Time, 32 hours per fortnight (0.4 FTE)

About the Role

As a Clinical Resource Nurse, you will provide high quality, responsive clinical support across the hospital, primarily after hours. You will act as a senior clinical resource for staff, offering guidance, advanced assessment skills, escalation support and leadership in emergency situations.

You will help coordinate clinical care, anticipate patient deterioration, triage requests, and allocate workload appropriately. Your calm, professional presence will support nurses, students and health care assistants, particularly during periods of high acuity or staffing pressure.

This is a dynamic, varied role where no two shifts are the same - ideal for an experienced nurse seeking the opportunity to influence patient outcomes and support clinical teams across multiple settings.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Based within the Integrated Operations Centre at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldier Memorial Hospital, you will work closely with Duty Managers, ward teams, allied health staff and other clinical services. The CRN team plays a key role in maintaining safe and coordinated hospital operations after hours.

About you

As a Clinical Resource Nurse, you bring advanced clinical skills, strong leadership and excellent communication. You will have:

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a valid APC.
