About Us

The Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Service, or the Mason Clinic as it is often known, is the largest Forensic Mental Health Service in New Zealand. We serve the four Northern District Health Boards including all courts in the northern region and five prisons.

We deliver a comprehensive range of Forensic Mental Health Services, including secure inpatient acute and rehabilitation services that connect to community rehabilitation services, services for offenders with an intellectual disability, culture-specific programmes for Māori, court liaison and prison mental health services. This includes a regional service to Northland Region Corrections Facility at Ngawha and Northland.

About the role

We are currently recruiting to a vacancy in the Forensic Community Reintegration Service (FCRS). The FCRS has has the primary purpose and goal to safely reintegrate tāngata whai i te ora or clients who have had a rehabilitative pathway through the Mason Clinic into the community, and to oversee respite or readmissions back into the secure inpatient wards as required. The FCRS multi-disciplinary team has a case load of 50-70 clients. The FCRS has an onsite rehabilitation hostel and interfaces with forensic residential facilities in the community. Providing broad-based assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services, you will deliver clinical and risk assessment and treatment to a culturally diverse group of forensic clients. You will also provide consultation, supervision and training to other Mason Clinic staff and may be involved in the design, delivery and evaluation of group based treatment programmes.

We are recruiting a Part-time Clinical Psychologist for the provision of high quality care and rehabilitation to adults who come into contact with the criminal justice system. We are interested in hearing from registered Clinical Psychologists with forensic and/or mental health experience, or who may be keen to develop skills in this area of professional practice. Training and support are key priorities in developing our workforce.

About you

As a psychologist at Mason Clinic you will be responsible for your allocated clinical areas and be supported by a broader team of ten to fifteen psychologists responsible for psychological assessment, individual and group mode treatments, and consultation at the Mason Clinic.

You will provide a range of psychological assessments, which may include court ordered assessments with sufficient training and competence, and therapeutic interventions for people with serious mental health issues and violent offence histories, as well as provide consultation, supervision and training to other Mason Clinic staff and may be involved in the design, delivery and evaluation of group based treatment programmes.
