Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Hawke's Bay seeks a Clinical Nurse Manager for Paediatric Services to lead operational management and clinical leadership across inpatient and ambulatory paediatric care. You will guide a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, equity-focused care for tamariki and whānau.

You will drive service development, improve patient flow, and manage budgets while upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi commitments and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current APC.
• At least 6 to 8 years of recent paediatric clinical experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams in complex clinical environments.
• Strong understanding of workforce planning, quality improvement, and patient safety.
• Experience managing staffing, recruitment, and performance processes.
• An expert-level nursing portfolio through an approved PDRP.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving outcomes for Māori.

About the Team/Service/Location

You would lead a dedicated and highly skilled paediatric workforce providing inpatient and outpatient services to the tamariki of Hawkes Bay

Hawke's Bay Hospital is a 400-bed secondary level accredited public hospital in Hastings, located on the east coast of the North Island. Serving a population of over 180,000 people, we provide both acute and elective care, with a wide range of medical and surgical specialties (excluding cardiothoracic and neurosurgery), as well as paediatrics and obstetrics & gynaecology. We are supported by a strong regional ICU team, ensuring comprehensive care for a diverse patient population.

Paediatric Services are provided inpatient and outpatient facilities in Wairoa, Napier, Hastings and Central Hawkes Bay as well as home visiting services.
