Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora seeks a Nurse Educator to develop, implement and evaluate clinical education programmes across Hawke’s Bay Hospital. You will support nurses and healthcare assistants, deliver training, and provide coaching to foster excellence in patient care.

You’ll work with clinical leaders and multidisciplinary teams, shaping education strategies and supporting orientation initiatives to elevate clinical capability and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Current Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• At least five years of recent clinical nursing experience.
• Experience supporting education, training, coaching or professional development activities.
• Strong communication, facilitation and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work across multiple clinical areas with diverse stakeholders.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equitable health outcomes.
• Passion for developing others and supporting excellence in nursing practice.

About the Role

As a Nurse Educator, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical education programmes that support safe, evidence based nursing practice and improve patient outcomes.

Working as part of the Professional Development Unit, you will support nurses and health care assistants to build their knowledge, skills, and confidence across a range of inpatient and outpatient services.

This is a highly influential role where you will work closely with clinical leaders and frontline staff to identify learning needs, develop educational resources, support orientation programmes, and deliver training that enhances clinical capability.

You will also provide coaching, mentorship, and professional guidance, helping to foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and excellence in patient care.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Based in Hastings, this role works across a range of inpatient wards and outpatient departments, collaborating with nursing leaders, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high quality education and professional development opportunities.
