Job summary

Madison Recruitment is seeking a Clinical Lead for the Primary Care Programme in New Zealand. This fixed-term role offers 8-16 hours per week in a hybrid arrangement, guiding the delivery of a national primary care initiative while maintaining your clinical practice.

You will provide clinical leadership, strategic advice, and help shape priorities, partnerships, and evidence-based improvement across the health sector, focusing on equity and quality in communities you serve.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and an Annual Practising Certificate.
• Significant clinical credibility and experience in the NZ primary care sector.
• Experience leading quality improvement, service improvement, or health system transformation initiatives.
• Strong governance understanding and knowledge of quality and safety in health care.
• Ability to use data and clinical insight to support improvements.
• Experience collaborating with Māori providers, clinicians, whānau, iwi and communities.
• Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori health models.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and influence change in complex environments.

Working closely with a dedicated programme team, you will help shape priorities, provide strategic clinical advice, and ensure initiatives are evidence-based, practical, and responsive to sector needs.

You will play a key role in building trusted partnerships across the health sector and championing approaches that improve quality, safety, and equity for communities across New Zealand.

This is a specialist clinical leadership role and does not include people management or programme management responsibilities.

What You'll Bring

• Strong understanding of clinical governance, healthcare quality and safety, and the broader health and disability system.

• Experience working alongside Māori providers, clinicians, whānau, iwi, and communities.
• Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, te ao Māori, and Māori health models.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and relationship management skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and influence change within complex environments.
