Job summary

Scots College – Strathmore Park, Wellington, seeks an energetic and reliable part-time cleaner to join our Facilities Team. You will help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.

The role is 32 hours per week, with hours typically in the early afternoon to evening, training provided. Applicants must have the right to work in New Zealand and be reliable, punctual and able to work independently.

Qualifications

  • Experience in cleaning, ideally in a school or education setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Able to work hours that meet College needs (early afternoon to evening).
  • Willingness to undergo police vetting and provide referees.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out general cleaning across classrooms, offices, staff areas and communal spaces.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation.
  • Replenish supplies and report stock needs.
  • Identify and report maintenance or cleaning issues.
  • Collaborate with Facilities team to support day-to-day operations.

Scots College is seeking an energetic and reliable part-time (32 hours per week) Cleaner to join our team in Strathmore Park, Wellington.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the presentation and upkeep of one of New Zealand's leading independent schools. Working as part of our Facilities Team, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The successful candidate will bring a positive, can-do attitude and a strong work ethic, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness are consistently maintained across the College. Please note that we can only accept applications from candidates with an existing right to work in New Zealand.

What you'll be doing
  • Carrying out general cleaning duties across various areas of the College campus, including classrooms, offices, staff areas, and communal spaces, as directed by the Facilities Manager and/or Cleaning Supervisor.
  • Ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation are consistently maintained throughout the College.
  • Replenishing cleaning supplies and consumables, and reporting stock requirements as needed.
  • Identifying and reporting any maintenance or cleaning-related issues.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider Facilities team to support the smooth day-to-day operation of the College.
What we're looking for
  • Previous experience in a cleaning role, ideally within a school or educational environment, although full training will be provided.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • The ability to work hours that meet the operational needs of the College (usually early afternoon until late in the evening but dependant on the days).
  • The ability to follow instructions and adhere to health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Positive referee reports and the ability to successfully complete Police Vetting.
  • Someone who is reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A current legal right to work in New Zealand.
