Whangārei Intermediate School seeks a passionate, energetic, and highly effective Classroom Kaiako to join our dedicated team. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing 27 January 2027, working with our exciting and diverse Y7 and 8 akonga.

Whangārei Intermediate School seeks a passionate, energetic, and highly effectiveClassroom Kaiakoto join our dedicated team.

This is a full-time, permanent position commencing 27 January 2027, working with our exciting and diverse Y7 and 8 akonga.

We are on a transformative journey towards a school-wide Specialist Teaching Model from 2027. The successful applicant will play a crucial role in this transition, utilizing their personal curriculum strength (e.g., arts, technology, science, PE, languages) to teach specialist subjects while maintaining strong pastoral care and core curriculum delivery in their homeroom.

Our Tirohanga/Vision is focused on building strong relationships (Mā te Whānaungatanga) so that knowledge is acquired (Kā Whai Mātauranga te Akonga) enabling the learner to stand with confidence (Ka tū Rangatira).

We are seeking a teacher who is committed to creating a positive, caring learning community. You will thrive in a collaborative environment and have a deep understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum at the intermediate level.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Proven success inaccelerating student achievement, particularly forMāori and Pasifika learners.
  • Excellence in pedagogy tailored for Y7-8 students.
  • Strong practical skills in te reo and tikanga Māoriand an active commitment toTe Ao MāoriandTe Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • The ability to build strong,mana-enhancing relationshipswith akonga, staff, and whānau.
  • Acollaborative mindsetand a commitment to contributing fully to the co-curricular life of the school (e.g., sports, arts, cultural groups).
