Job summary

SJ Allen Holdings in Queenstown is seeking a motivated Class 4 Vacuum Tanker and Hydro Operator to join our team. You’ll operate modern vacuum and hydro trucks across the Queenstown Lakes and Central Otago regions, carrying out servicing, emergency call-outs and specialist tasks.

This permanent, full-time role offers variety, responsibility and the opportunity to work across all areas of our liquid waste operation.

Qualifications

• NZ Class 4 licence is required.
• Experience operating vacuum trucks or hydro excavation in liquid waste or related industries.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic and safety awareness.
• Good communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 4 vacuum trucks safely and efficiently.
• Service septic tanks, holding tanks and pump stations.
• Empty and maintain grease traps.
• Carry out commercial and industrial liquid waste collection.
• Assist with hydro excavation and vacuum loading work.
• Complete stormwater and wastewater maintenance.
• Attend emergency call-outs and participate in on-call roster.
• Complete daily vehicle inspections and equipment maintenance.
• Maintain accurate job records using digital system.
• Deliver exceptional customer service while representing SJ Allen Holdings.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position that offers variety, responsibility and the opportunity to work across all areas of our liquid waste operation.

You’ll operate a range of modern Class 4 vacuum and hydro trucks while carrying out scheduled servicing, emergency call-outs and specialist services for residential, commercial and civil clients.

No two days are the same, and you’ll work both independently and alongside an experienced team.

About You

You’ll be someone who enjoys taking ownership of your work and isn’t afraid to get your hands dirty.

Ideally you’ll have:

• A current New Zealand Class 4 licence.

• Experience operating vacuum trucks/hydro or working within the liquid waste, drainage, civil or environmental services industry.

• A strong work ethic and positive attitude.

• Good physical fitness.

• The ability to work independently and within a team.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• A commitment to health and safety.

• Flexibility to participate in the on-call roster and respond to after-hours call-outs.

Experience in hydro excavation, drainage or wastewater services is an advantage, but applicants with the right attitude and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
