Job summary

Isaac Group in Christchurch is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support planning, design, and delivery of civil infrastructure projects across Canterbury. This permanent role involves road renewal, drainage, earthworks, and minor structures, working with project managers, construction crews, designers and stakeholders.

You will oversee on-site activities, ensure safety and quality, and help prepare reports and contract documentation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Experience in roading, subdivision, utilities or earthworks.
• Sound knowledge of NZ design standards, specifications and consenting processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Plan, programme and manage civil engineering projects from initial concept through to completion, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, specifications and relevant standards.
• Coordinate on-site construction activities, provide technical guidance to contractors and site teams, and ensure quality control and verification of works.
• Undertake site inspections, audits and testing to confirm conformance to design, health and safety and environmental requirements.
• Identify and manage project risks and opportunities, implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement.
• Engage proactively with clients, stakeholders, statutory authorities and the public to maintain strong working relationships and manage expectations.
• Prepare reports, tender documentation and variations, and support contract administration activities including progress claims and final accounts.
