Job summary

Fulton Hogan in Central Otago/Queenstown is seeking a Civil Project Engineer to support delivery of civil construction projects. You'll split time between site and office, coordinating resources, ensuring safety, quality and on-time completion.

Reporting to the Department Manager - Civil, you will manage documentation, engage with subcontractors and clients, and provide practical engineering solutions to keep projects moving and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
• 5+ years in civil construction/infrastructure.
• Experience delivering civil infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of construction methods and project management.
• Experience with programming, cost control, quality assurance, and documentation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Proactive, independent and collaborative.
• Safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day civil construction activities.
• Support planning, delivery, and completion in line with programme, budget, and quality objectives.
• Provide engineering support to site teams.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and project resources.
• Prepare, review, and manage project documentation, including quality records, methodologies, work plans, programmes, and reporting requirements.
• Assist with procurement, cost tracking, forecasting, and project financial management.
• Monitor project progress and identify risks, opportunities, and solutions to support successful outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with contract specifications, engineering standards, and relevant legislation.
• Maintain strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors, and project teams.
• Promote and champion health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across all project activities.
• Provide regular project updates and engineering support to the Department Manager.
