Job summary

Higgins Hawke’s Bay seeks an experienced Specialist Operator: Construction to join our civil team in Napier. The role blends hands-on plant operation with earthworks and drainage tasks across multiple projects.

You’ll read plans, perform pre-start checks and support project teams to ensure safe, quality outcomes on site. A Full Class 2 licence and WTR endorsements are required, with Class 4 an advantage.

Qualifications

• Experience operating excavators and civil construction plant.
• Licence endorsements such as Full Class 2 and WTR are required.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrains.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators and civil construction plant on site.
• Assist with earthworks, roading and drainage tasks.
• Load, unload and move materials around site.
• Carry out trenching, reinstatement and soil testing as needed.
• Read plans and site instructions; perform pre-start checks.
