Rooney Earthmoving Ltd. is recruiting for a civil construction project in Mid Canterbury. The role involves working on a major water storage site with a range of earthmoving machines, operating scrapers, diggers, dozers, rollers, dump trucks, and graders.

The project starts now and runs through winter 2028, offering opportunities to gain extensive hands-on experience in earthmoving. We welcome both experienced operators and trainees who are committed to safety and learning.

Qualifications

• Experienced on large-scale earthmoving projects operating different machines.
• GPS skills for civil operators and ability to follow levels.
• Solid knowledge of health and safety standards on civil projects.
• Willingness to work long hours and adapt to site conditions.
• Ability to manage equipment and care for assets.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy earthmoving equipment on a major water storage project in Mid Canterbury.
• Follow construction plans, levels, and fill processes with accuracy.
• Maintain equipment and adhere to safety procedures on site.

Rooney Earthmoving Ltd is a family-owned, large South Island business with work bases in Oamaru, Waimate, Timaru, Ashburton and Christchurch. We have been around for over 50 years and have become a contractor with a reputation of completing many of the large-scale earthmoving projects in the South Island of NZ.

After many years in the planning, we are beginning work on a major water storage project in the Oxford area. As a result, we are recruiting civil construction roles to join our project specific team. The work will be in the Oxford area beginning now and progress through to winter 2028. The project with require Scrapers, Diggers, Dozers, Rollers, Dump Trucks, Graders and a sizable team of enthusiastic skilled workers. This will also be a training ground for some hard-working new operators who have a passion to operate machines.
