Job summary

Wyma NZ, Christchurch manufacturing, engineering and product development centre, seeks a Design & Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of 28 staff across New Zealand and the Czech Republic. Qualifications

• Leadership capability with the ability to develop engineering managers, senior engineers and technical specialists.
• Strong engineering judgement to guide complex mechanical, automation or integrated equipment decisions.
• Commercial judgement balancing customer requirements, manufacturability, serviceability and margin.

Responsibilities

• Build a high‑performing engineering team through leadership, coaching, succession planning and capability development.
• Provide technical leadership and engineering judgement across complex mechanical, automation and integrated system decisions.
• Ensure engineering projects are delivered to quality, budget and schedule commitments.
• Drive improvements in engineering standards, design reuse, documentation, governance, and resource planning.
• Provide engineering input to support product release, lifecycle improvement and customer-specific requirements.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Product & Innovation, Sales, Project Delivery and Aftermarket to achieve broader business objectives.
• Develop future engineering leaders and ensure critical technical knowledge is shared across the business.
