Job summary

Sealord Group Ltd. is seeking a Chief Marine Engineer for the FV Aukaha. Based in New Zealand, you will manage the vessel's propulsion, fishing and processing systems, leading a small crew through 12-hour shifts on 3–4 week trips.

You must hold MEC 4 and MEC 3 tickets with proven deep-sea experience, focusing on safety, preventative maintenance and efficient operation in challenging offshore conditions.

Qualifications

• MEC 4 and MEC 3 tickets required for Chief Engineer role.
• Proven experience on deep-sea fishing vessels with propulsion, fishing and processing systems.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a small crew.
• Commitment to preventative maintenance and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical and electrical performance of propulsion, fishing, processing and ancillary systems.
• Lead preventive maintenance and safety practices on the vessel.
• Manage on-call operations during 12-hour watch rotations.
• Support shipboard crew and follow directives to ensure compliance and efficiency.
