Job summary

Sport Tasman is a respected regional not-for-profit leading health and wellbeing initiatives across Te Tauihu, Kaikōura and Buller. The Chief Executive Officer will guide the organisation’s strategy into disciplined delivery, oversee an executive team, and drive revenue growth while strengthening partnerships to deliver lasting community impact.

This is a strategic leadership role requiring governance, fiscal acumen, and a resilient, values-led approach to navigate priorities and funding

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in not-for-profit, community, public, or equivalent sectors.
• Proven ability to translate strategy into disciplined delivery.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with revenue and partnerships growth.
• Experience building an accountable, values-led culture.
• Understanding of governance and management processes.
• Demonstrated grit with the capacity to balance long-term objectives while responding to priorities.

About Sport Tasman

Sport Tasman’s purpose is to enable more people to be more active, more often. Working across Te Tauihu, Kaikōura and Buller, the organisation partners with communities, schools, councils, funders and iwi to improve participation and wellbeing outcomes across the region.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer will lead Sport Tasman through its next phase of delivery and growth.

With a strong sense of strategic direction, the board is seeking a leader who can translate strategy into disciplined execution, measurable outcomes and demonstrable value for funders, partners and communities. You will lead a capable executive team, accelerate organisational performance, grow revenue opportunities and ensure Sport Tasman continues to deliver lasting benefit for its stakeholders and communities.

Your Skills & Experience

• Senior leadership capability within the not-for-profit, community, public or comparable commercial sectors. Sports sector experience is not essential.
• Proven ability to translate strategy into disciplined delivery
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including growing revenue and partnerships
• Experience building an accountable and values-led culture
• Understanding of effective governance and management processes
• Demonstrated grit and perseverance, with the capacity to balance long-term objectives while responding effectively to emerging priorities.
