Whangarei, Northland, New Zealand – Permanent part-time position (0.2FTE)

About the Role

We are seeking a Chemical Pathologist – Biochemistry to join the team at Health New Zealand, Te Tai Tokerau and have complete oversight of the biochemistry testing environment within Northland. The role includes oversight of biochemistry testing, reporting, procedure work, quality assurance, and clinical pathway development. Collegial visits to the Whangarei and district laboratories are a key element of the role and are an IANZ requirement. The role involves working closely with patients, ensuring that the biochemistry service is delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide complete oversight of biochemistry testing within Northland.
  • Take ownership of reporting, procedure work, quality assurance, and clinical pathway development.
  • Conduct collegial visits to Whangarei and district laboratories in accordance with IANZ requirements.
Qualifications
  • Specialist (or locum tenens) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in a Pathology Vocational scope of practice.
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) or equivalent.
  • Ability to assist with MCNZ registration for overseas candidates.
