Job summary

Jora New Zealand in Canterbury is seeking an entry level Kitchen Hand for a busy kitchen. This 7-day operation offers split shifts and on-the-job training with no formal qualifications required.

You will wash utensils and dishes, assist the chef, maintain cleanliness, handle food items safely and follow hygiene and safety guidelines while working as part of a motivated team.

Qualifications

  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment with good communication skills and team spirit.
  • Entry level position with no qualifications, skills and experience required as all training will be provided on the job.

Responsibilities

  • Wash utensils, dishes and return to the kitchen and make sure they are stored appropriately.
  • Clean food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or areas.
  • Pack food and beverage trays for serving.
  • Dispose of rubbish.
  • Follow all hygiene and Health and Safety regulations within the kitchen.
  • Assist the Chef in the preparation and cooking of food, as required.
  • Follow direction toward portion control, cooking standards and wastage.
  • Maintain a positive and motivated work ethic in the kitchen at all times.
  • Handle, sort, store and distribute food items.
  • Follow instructions from the Chef or nominee.
  • Any other duties the employer may reasonably require.
