Job summary

Bessie in Christchurch, NZ is seeking a Full-Time, permanent Chef de Partie to join a busy kitchen team. The role offers a minimum of 30 hours per week, with potential up to 60 hours depending on business needs, and pays between $28.00 and $34.00 per hour.

Ideal candidate will have NZQCF Level 4+ or 2+ years in a commercial kitchen, with strong team communication and ability to work in a high-volume setting. Training and staff discounts are provided.

Qualifications

• NZQCF Level 4+ culinary qualification or 2+ years in a commercial kitchen.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook dishes to a consistently high standard.
• Monitor food quality at all stages of prep and presentation.
• Handle ordering and stocktaking to manage food costs.
• Manage rosters and monitor wage costs.
• Ensure all food is prepped and portioned before service.
• Demonstrate techniques and advise on procedures.
• Maintain clear kitchen-FOH communication.
• Follow Food Control Plan and sanitation standards.
• Discuss food prep issues with managers and team.
