Job summary

The Rees Hotel Queenstown is seeking an experienced cook to join our kitchen team. You will plan, prepare and cook high-quality dishes across larder, hot-line and dessert sections, with a strong emphasis on hygiene and safety.

This full-time role offers opportunities to work mornings, evenings, weekends; staff meals; on-site parking; and our in-house sustainability programme.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years' relevant experience in high-quality properties or restaurants.
• Passion for following culinary trends.
• Ability to build and maintain strong and respectful work relationships.
• Understanding of food safety and impeccable hygiene practices.
• Effective English verbal and written communication skills.
• Available to work mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Key responsibilities

This position is responsible for planning and organising the creation, preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes. The role requires the ability to work independently with a strong emphasis on impeccable food hygiene practices. Depending on your skill set, you will be working across larder, hot-line and/or dessert sections. The role includes preparing staff meals for the wider hotel.

Skills, experience and attributes

• Have a minimum of three years' relevant prior experience in high quality properties/restaurants
• Passion for following culinary trends essential
• Ability to build and maintain strong and respectful work relationships
• Understanding of food safety and impeccable hygiene practices
• Effective English verbal and written communication skills
• Available to work a variety of shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays
