Job summary

The Blue Breeze Inn in Auckland, North Island, is hiring 4 full-time, permanent chef roles. The positions offer a minimum of 30 hours per week and a chance to join a busy, vibrant kitchen.

Join a Pacific-fresh, modern Chinese menu and train across multiple sections, from Commis to Sous Chef, as part of a well-knit team that cooks seven days a week.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience as a Chef in an Asian restaurant.
• Knowledge of Asian culinary techniques and flavor profiles.
• Excellent knife skills and safe handling of kitchen equipment.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes using wok techniques with precision.
• Master stir-frying, tossing, and high-heat control for flavor and texture.
• Collaborate with Head Chef to develop dishes and maintain menu consistency.
• Manage prep work: chopping and preparing fresh ingredients.
• Maintain a clean, organized wok station and follow health and safety rules.
• Assist in inventory management to ensure fresh, stocked ingredients.

We have 4 full-time, permanent Chef positions available. The roles offer a minimum guaranteed 30 hours of work per week.

Established in 2013, The Blue Breeze Inn is a Ponsonby institution and thewell-knit, multiculturalkitchen team where everyone is welcome plays a huge part in our success.

We give great emphasis to training and developing your skills across multiple sections as every team member from Commis to Sous Chef plays a pivotal role in the smooth running of the restaurant – 7 days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes using wok techniques with precision and speed.
• Master the art of stir-frying, tossing, and controlling high heat for optimum flavor and texture.
• Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of dishes and maintain high standards.
• Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new dishes and maintain consistency in existing menu items.
• Manage prep work, including chopping and preparing fresh ingredients for each service.
• Maintain a clean and organized wok station, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
• Assist in inventory management, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and properly stocked.
