Job summary

Foodstuffs NZ’s Mapua Four Square is seeking a friendly Checkout Superstar to deliver outstanding service at the front end. You’ll scan, pack, tidy the checkout, and support a close-knit team in a community-focused store in Mapua Village.

Previous supermarket/retail exposure is preferred; you must be over 18 due to age-restricted sales. Lotto and liquor compliance knowledge are a bonus as part of your role.

Qualifications

• Experience in supermarkets, retail or hospitality is ideal but not essential.
• Over 18 years of age due to age-restricted sales.
• Familiar with Lotto sales or liquor compliance is a bonus.

Responsibilities

Your Role

As our Checkout Superstar, you’ll be the friendly face that makes every customer’s visit a great one. Your day will include:

• Delivering outstanding customer service and building genuine connections with our customers.
• Scanning, packing, and multitasking with efficiency and a smile.
• Keeping the checkout area tidy, stocked, and looking amazing.
• Supporting your team with great communication and teamwork.
• Upholding compliance with Foodstuffs’ Liquor Policy and Lotto requirements.
• Taking pride in store presentation and helping keep the front end running smoothly.

We’re after someone who’s:

• Friendly, confident, and comfortable engaging with people from all walks of life.
• Detail-oriented, reliable, and proud of doing things properly.
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Experienced in supermarkets, retail or hospitality (ideal, but not essential).
• Familiar with Lotto sales or liquor compliance (bonus points!).
• Over 18 years of age (due to age-restricted sales).

Most importantly, you’ve got a can-do attitude, initiative, and the drive to make every customer’s day a little better.

Role 1 - Tuesday to Saturday 12pm to 7pm

Role 2 – Sunday 11am to 7pm and Monday 7am to 12pm

Depending on the candidate the mix of days could shift but will include one weekend day
